And I see you don't under- You don't know why. Is it all enough? How'd you say, --I don't know? --What'd you say? Is it all for laughs? Is it all for last? How can I cheat gravity? I've seen some float like electricity. What is winning?

Is there not enough for your thoughts to think about? Selfish supreme! Won't let go of anything. All your thoughts are all you see: missed opportunities and unenjoyed victories, or relaxed if you don't fight the past. Addressed with no stress. Aware and well prepared. The world is numb with soft attention. Perfection's not as strong as momentum.

Fridge and airplane noise out the window. I like small space, the internet, and whiskey. Feelings will happen to you, Couch. Relax, nothing is real. Nothing to worry abouch. What are you thinking about? Don't think before you talk. Don't think as you-- talking about? Relax, nothing is real. No need to justify.

Why should we question the logic of electrons not being defined as either waves or particles before they are observed, when often our experiences in life can't be defined as positive or negative until after they have been reflected upon? You love me. No, I don't love you. You are remembering it wrong.

Everything is so right. Everything is so right today. I didn’t see you when you wanted it so right. When you set it around tonight. When you set it around, everything is so right today when you wanted it so right. And never once was it a way for you to get away for you tonight, yeah. When you set it around tonight and then you set away. And if I always fail and it’s not my-- Just settle down! Just settle down!

about

Spontaneous Respiration’s Down With Words begins reasonably enough, with the dreamily optimistic, “Fishing, Not Hunting” full of hooky female vocal melodies over Spanish classical guitar, strings, layered drums, and psychedelic synths.

From there things start to get weird. There is an obscure Björk cover sped up 4x, followed by a pure electronic drill and bass track (music video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=87U_WXUx03o), followed by a field recording of a cow herder in northern Thailand listening to the radio.

The album then slows down the tempo, but not the density, and the energy alternates between the lighthearted and profound, with lyrics varying from telling a couch to relax to waxing philosophic on how quantum mechanics is like our emotional understanding of life.

With unyielding complexity and full of surprises, Down With Words demands your attention and warps your mind with it’s all-encompassing, world-of-it’s own detailed construction.

about

Spontaneous Respiration San Francisco, California

We believe that music connects us with the eternal, and fills the void with meaning.

Genres vary from electro-tinged psychedelic indie-folk to maximalist-idm.

Dirty Projectors and Sufjan Stevens meet Björk and Aphex Twin, with touches of Nine Inch Nails, Tchaikovsky, and the kitchen sink. Surprises abound.
